Description:
A creamware jug from Liverpool, featuring a rare, early version of Poor Jack. He's depicted wearing the traditional skirt, bidding goodbye to his lass while his shipmates row ashore to take him. On the reverse a transfer of a ship in full sail, flying the red ensign above emblems of naval warfare and message regarding commerce within a ribbon scroll.
Circa 1790
Approx - 8 inches (200mm) tall.
In good condition with a restored spout and a hairline.
